Our mission

Our newsroom is the leading source for news, sports, business and entertainment in East Tennessee. We are committed to bringing you well-sourced and trustworthy coverage every day online. From holding local officials accountable to highlighting what makes Knoxville unique, our journalists strive to connect you to news that matters every day.

Community commitment

Knox News is committed to enhancing the quality of life in East Tennessee. Whether it be welcoming newcomers with Knoxpedia, tracking down backstories on local myths with Know Your Knox or informing voters with election guides, we strive to provide the community with news that matters.

Additionally, we operate Knoxville News Sentinel Charities, which gives back through its Empty Stocking Fund, our 100% volunteer-run nonprofit that serves East Tennessee families experiencing food insecurity. Every penny donated goes into the effort that stretches back more than 100 years!

Our team

Knox News is led by Executive Editor Joel Christopher. Christopher joined Knox News in February 2019, describing his role in Knoxville as a liaison between the newsroom and the community on all levels. “It’s vital that an executive editor really forges the deepest possible connections he or she can with the community.”
