Ali Larter is one half of Landman’s turbulent couple at the center of the series, but in real life, she’s been happily married to husband Hayes MacArthur for 16 years.

“Enjoy every day,” Larter, 49, recently told People of the secret to her lasting marriage with her spouse. “Try to be really kind.”

Larter, 49, also praised “the way that he takes care of our family,” referring to MacArthur’s dedication to parenting their two children, Theodore, 15, and Vivienne, 10. (The couple got married at MacArthur’s family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, in August 2009.)

The Heroes alum and MacArthur, 48, previously shared how they strengthened their family unit during the COVID-19 pandemic when they decided to move away from Los Angeles.

“The industry was at a total standstill and our kids were stuck on screens with remote schooling,” MacArthur told Rue Magazine in September 2024. “So, after a year, we just packed up the car and bounced.”

Larter added, “We figured it was an opportunity to go on an adventure as a family. And we just started driving north.”

While road tripping, Larter and MacArthur fell in love with Sun Valley, Idaho, a resort town known for its mountain ranges, picturesque views and ski lodges. They felt it was the perfect place to plant roots and built the house of their dreams, a 4,400-square-foot oasis that fits “into the natural geography of Sun Valley but didn’t have that traditional ‘cabiny’ feel.”

“We fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and their quiet grandness,” Larter shared. “Neither of us had ever lived in a small town before. People look out for each other. There’s a real sense of community here and we’re so happy to be a part of it.”

Larter, of course, has had to travel to and from Texas to film Taylor Sheridan’s Landman. “Actors are natural nomads and travel is part of our DNA,” she said. But it’s an opportunity that she’s incredibly grateful for. (Texas is also where Larter met MacArthur 20 years ago on the set of a comedy film.)

“I get to work, I think, next to one of the best actors working in our business, and he brings out the best in me,” she told People in November of appearing in the drama alongside Billy Bob Thornton. “In our world, when we’re working together, there’s just never an inauthentic beat, and that is incredible. I love him so much.”

And when she isn’t jet-setting to the Lone Star State, she’s cherishing time with MacArthur and their kids on their dreamy two-acre property. Ahead of the season 2 premiere, Larter revealed she was able to spend a restful six weeks in Idaho with her loved ones.

“I’m cooking dinners and allowing myself to sleep in, or going to yoga or taking long hikes with the dogs,” she told the outlet. “And I’m at every soccer game and every soccer practice, and that really feeds me.”
