TEXAS (KFDX/KJTL) — The first immigrant-born Miss Texas will be passing the pageantry baton this weekend.
Annette Addo-Yobo was crowned Miss Texas 2024 and first runner-up to Miss America this year, and since then, she has dedicated herself to autism awareness.
The Ghana native has traveled to Washington, D.C., numerous times to advocate for people with autism, like her brother, and plans to attend Texas Tech Law next year.
It’s that social platform the pageants provide, which she believes is key in empowering women.
“I think the message, really, is that this is an organization that empowers all women to lead. That’s the mission of the Miss America opportunity. And that woman looks like anybody. It could look like me, it could look like you, it could look like Suzie Q down the street.” Yobo said.
Now it’s time to crown a new representative of the Lone Star State to compete in the next Miss America pageant. You can watch the Miss Texas 2025 pageant this Saturday, June 28, at 8 p.m. on our sister station, KJBO channel 35.
