Brooklyn Beckham claimed that his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, persuaded him into “signing away” the rights to his name — but what does that mean?
“[My mom and dad] repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name,” Brooklyn claimed in a January 2026 statement shared via social media. “[This] would have affected me, my wife and our future children.”
Brooklyn, who married actress Nicola Peltz Beckham in 2022, further claimed that David and Victoria wanted the documents finalized before the wedding.
“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because when the terms of the deal would be initiated,” Brooklyn claimed. “My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”
David and Victoria, who also share three younger children, have not publicly addressed Brooklyn’s accusations and remain estranged from him and Nicola.

Is Brooklyn Beckham’s Name Trademarked?
According to the U.K.’s Intellectual Property Office, a trademark for “Brooklyn Beckham” was filed in December 2016 and entered into the register the next year in June 2017. The copyright is set to be renewed in December 2026.
Who Owns the Trademark to Brooklyn Beckham’s Name?
Victoria Beckham is listed as the “owner” via the Intellectual Property Office database as she is the mother and former guardian of Brooklyn Beckham, however, he is the actual beneficial owner.
Are Brooklyn Beckham’s Siblings’ Names Trademarked?
The Intellectual Property Office records indicate that “Romeo Beckham,” “Cruz Beckham” and “Harper Beckham” were also trademarked on the same dates as Brooklyn Beckham’s name. Mom Victoria Beckham is also listed as the owner on each.
Why Victoria Beckham Is Listed as the Trademark ‘Owner’
David and Victoria Beckham applied for the trademarks when each of their four children were minors. (As of January 2026, Harper is the only one under the age of 18.)
“This is a misunderstanding of the position,” a source close to the Beckhams told Us Weekly in January 2026. “Of course, a parent or adult would make the original filing if the person were a child at the point they needed to register. Brooklyn and his brothers, who are now all over 18, own their trademarks and Brooklyn manages his with his own team.”
Brooklyn could also have referenced the usage of the Beckham family name in his bombshell statement, which was not expressly made clear.
Where Brooklyn Beckham Stands With Parents David and Victoria Beckham
Brooklyn Beckham started distancing himself from his family in 2025 after drama surrounding his wedding day.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he said in his January 2026 statement. “I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
He further claimed that “Brand Beckham comes first” over any familial love or loyalty.
“Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” Brooklyn wrote. “[Nicola and I have] gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family!’ But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the L.A. fires, my mum refused.”
David and Victoria Beckham did not immediately address any of their son’s accusations.
