Caitlin Clark got poked in the eye and had the mark to show for it.
The WNBA superstar fell to the ground in pain 90 seconds into the game after she was poked in the right eye by Conneticut guard DiJonai Carrington in Game 1 of the first-round playoff matchup between the Fever and Sun.
The Sun took the game, 93-69, over the Fever.
No foul was called and play continued as Clark was in obvious pain from the play.
“Obviously, she got me pretty good in the eye,” Clark told reporters. “I don’t think it affected me. I got good shots, they didn’t go down. It’s a tough time for that to happen. Had three wide open in first half that I usually make. It didn’t feel good when it happened but I don’t think it affected me.”
Clark briefly went to the bench quickly after the Fever called a timeout, but she never left the game because of the eye poke.
While Clark didn’t think the injury created an issue with her shooting, she shot just 23.5 percent from the field and put up just 11 points in her first WNBA Playoff game.
