The event also featured a giveaway of warm clothes and necessary personal items.

FARGO, N.D. – Community members needing a warm meal and winter gear to fight the cold found both at the Indigenous Association in downtown Fargo on Saturday.

The Fargo-Moorhead Mutual Aid & Direct Action Network hosted their second community dinner.

The first time, they made about 60 meals, and ran out within an hour.

So this time they prepped much more – assembling supplies for enough burritos to feed about 200 people.

They also had a wide selection of warm clothes people could take, free of charge.

Event organizers say it’s a stark reminder of the challenges some folks face in their everyday lives.

“It is very saddening to see the amount of people that were living along the river that are in need of this that we might not be able to get here today. It’s very saddening to see the city not taking care of its people,” said Olivia Fisher, one of the event organizers.

“So that’s what we’re here for. It’s very rewarding. But yes, I feel that there’s more that can be done, and so we’re trying to do as much as we can.”

The Indigenous Association is located at 720 1st Ave N – right next to the Plains Art Museum.
