TAMPA — Spencer Jones’ power is awe-inspiring. George Lombard Jr. seems to do everything well. Carlos Lagrange’s velocity has become the talk of camp.
But arguably the most intriguing prospect the Yankees have will be seldom seen publicly during spring training outside of the Spring Breakout series.
Dax Kilby is just 19, was in high school at this time last year and has a grand total of 19 professional games under his belt.
Those 19, though? With Class-A Tampa in August and September, when the shortstop hit .353 with an .898 OPS, walked (13 times) more often than he struck out (11), sprayed the ball around for a pair of doubles and a pair of triples and stole 16 bases.
