Groceries to Go delivery — help us grow! | Bloomington Meals on Wheels
Groceries to Go provides supplemental food to Bloomington residents who are unable to access other food pantries or the Community Kitchen due to disability, illness, injury or transportation. Volunteer drivers deliver prepared grocery bags on an established route once per month. Routes take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and begin at 10 a.m. every Thursday. Volunteer drivers must be 21 years old, use their own insured vehicle and pass a background check. Younger assistants may accompany the driver on the route, making this opportunity family-friendly. Fully vaccinated individuals may request to be partnered with another fully vaccinated volunteer for route deliveries. Interested? Driving clients to food pantries, grocery stores, doctor’s appointments
Since 2016, the Refugee Support Network has helped asylum seekers, refugees and other displaced persons resettle in the Bloomington Community. It is all done with the help of volunteers, with no paid staff. Currently, they are needing volunteers 21 years and older to assist with driving their clients to food pantries, grocery stores and doctor appointments. Volunteers need to be comfortable using Google Translate if the client’s language is unknown to them. This opportunity is open to teams of people (like a circle of friends, faith group, etc.), but individuals are also welcome. Learn more and sign up today at tinyurl.com/driving-clients-volunteers.
