The Grey Lady has lefties seeing red.

Liberal readers lost their minds after the New York Times editorial board called on President Biden to step out of the 2024 election following his abysmal debate Thursday night — as the commander-in-chief’s campaign desperately struggled to squash the mounting criticism.

The New York Times came to its measured but damning conclusion on Friday — less than 24 hours after Biden, 81, stumbled and mumbled his way through the CNN debate against Donald Trump.

But the paper’s call for the octogenarian to bow out for the good of the nation caused dozens of its lefty readers to go into meltdown mode.

“What a load of s–t,” Democratic Party chair and self-titled “media skeptic” Chris D. Jackson replied to the article on X.

“Did I miss where you asked Trump to withdraw after he was found liable for rape and guilty on 34 felony counts?” he demanded, referring to Trump’s legal woes.

Several other commenters also accused the Times of ignoring Trump’s issues in favor of calling for Biden’s ouster — while ignoring the widespread concern, even among the Democratic party, over the elderly president’s worrying performance.

According to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS, 67% of those surveyed said Trump, 78, turned in a better performance, while just 33% believe Biden was the clear winner.

More concerningly, the 54% of Democratic debate watchers who had expressed a lot of confidence in Biden’s ability to lead prior to the face-off dropped to just 39% in the aftermath.

In an online poll conducted by The Post following the debate, a whopping 82% said that Biden should not run for president again.

“So instead of 4 more years with a decent old man who has accomplished so much, people should vote for a crazy old man convicted felon, sexual assaulter, authoritarian who wants to end democracy here?” soccer consultant Ronz Waxman fired off on X.

“Serious question…did the Times run an Op Ed after Trump was convicted of 34 felonies saying it was time for him to drop out?” another X user suggested.

“Straw men alert.. no shit,” wrote Washington Post blogger Jen Rubin. “But he can do the job and he is eons better than the guy who’s the lying monster.”

The Seneca Project co-founder and CEO Tara Setmayer slammed the Times’ take as “outrageous.”

Others simply announced plans to cancel their subscriptions.

“This is pure malarkey. I’m going to have to cancel my subscription,” said one respondent, borrowing one of Biden’s favorite – and much-maligned – phrases.

The desperate Biden campaign also made an effort to appear unbothered by the New York Times’ death knell.

“The last time Joe Biden lost the New York Times editorial board’s endorsement, it turned out pretty well for him,” a senior adviser said in a snarky statement to CNN.

The New York Times endorsed Democrats Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.

Biden, however, ultimately clinched the nomination and narrowly defeated incumbent Trump.

“I watched a man, first hand, ‘CHOKE’ under tremendous pressure, the likes of which he has never seen before,” Trump said of the debate in a post on Truth Social.

“This was a ‘MONSTER’ show, and it could be plainly and openly felt onstage.”
