DoorDash swooped in with an epic offer for Devin Booker after the Suns star shared his heartbreak that Hooters might be heading toward bankruptcy.
Booker pleaded, “Plz don’t go @Hooters,” in an X post on Saturday, which followed a Bloomberg report that Hooters of America is working with creditors to restructure its business through bankruptcy court in the coming months.
DoorDash, a food delivery app, replied to Booker and offered him free wings from Hooters until the iconic restaurant chain potentially closes for good.
“Know how much this hurts. To make you feel better, we got you on free wings until they close,” DoorDash replied to Booker in a post on Monday, adding an owl emoji, the Hooters’ mascot.
Suns star Kevin Durant also shared an A.I. photo of himself and Booker sitting down and enjoying wings while wearing Hooters T-shirts in a since-expired post on his Instagram Story.
Hooters faced liquidity issues due to a decline in foot traffic, which contributed to closing a number of businesses, including 40 locations in 2024.
The chain sold about $300 million in asset-backed bonds in 2021, per data collected by Bloomberg.
Hooters — known for its wings and beautiful waitresses who wear tiny tank tops and shorts — is working with Ropes & Gray to prepare the filing, and the firm said the plans are not final.
Booker’s love for Hooters stretches back more than a decade.
In 2012, he posted this message on X, then Twitter, “I’m thinking hooters tonight with the fellas.”
In a follow-up post at the time, he wrote, “At hooters chillen.”
