Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) continued to hammer close Trump ally and notorious conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer this week after recently saying, “She’s right off the movie Poltergeist.”
Bacon, a retired Air Force general, ripped Loomer earlier in the week after it was reported that she was the driving force behind President Donald Trump’s recent firing of key national security officials, including Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh, who led the Pentagon’s Cyber Command.
Bacon doubled down on his criticism of Loomer on Wednesday night, writing, “I should have thought twice saying Laura Loomer was perfect for the Poltergeist Movie. She was better for the Munsters Family.”
Loomer has long been a highly controversial figure on the far-right and has pushed various conspiracy theories, including denials of school shootings, suggestions that Nikki Haley controlled the weather ahead of the Iowa caucuses, and the idea that the 9/11 terror attacks were a false flag.
She hit back at Bacon, writing, “A Republican member of Congress who should be working to support President Trump’s agenda is instead attacking my appearance on X. What’s wrong @RepDonBacon? Don’t you have a wife to spend time with this time of night? Or are you thinking of me instead? Sad.”
Bacon continued to make his position clear as he replied to social media users defending Loomer. He wrote in reply to one, “Laura Loomer is a Whack-a-Doodle. Most of America knows it. I’ll call it out clearly.”
“I think you’re playing with fire, sir,” wrote one user in reply to Bacon, to which he commented, “She’s a whacko. No fear.”
Another user wrote, “You’re sounding a little nervous.” Bacon hit back, “No, she is an idiot.”
Loomer attacked Bacon in another post, writing, “Rep. Don Bacon @RepDonBacon loves weaponized government. He can “mock me” all he wants. He will always be known for supporting Nancy Pelosi’s anti-Trump J6 Commission. Isn’t it funny how a so called GOP Congressman is angry that Trump haters were fired from the NSC & NSA?”
A defender of Loomer replied to Bacon, saying, “Dude, you picked the wrong fight. She is gonna kick your ass.” Bacon replied to that user, “She is a liar weak lady. I have no fear.”
Loomer has long had Trump’s ear despite her losing two races for Congress and stirring controversy during his 2024 presidential campaign by traveling with him to 9/11 memorial events. Trump was recently asked about Loomer meeting with him in the Oval Office and said, “She’s a very strong person and I saw her yesterday for a little while she has – she makes recommendations of things and people, and sometimes I listen to those recommendations like I do with everybody. I listen to everybody and then I make a decision.”
