Donald Trump — once a fierce critic of electric vehicles — claimed in a late-night Truth Social post on Monday that he’s going to buy a brand new Tesla on Tuesday morning.
It will be a show of solidarity with top ally Elon Musk, who owns the electric vehicle manufacturer, the president said.
Tesla’s stock price has plunged, sales have fallen and its stores and vehicles have been attacked amid growing anger over billionaire Musk’s role in the chaotic gutting of federal spending and jobs via the Department of Government Efficiency since Trump’s return to the White House.
Musk is “‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” claimed Trump.
“But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s “baby,” in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for,” he added.

Trump did not explain exactly how not buying Teslas is illegal.
“They tried to do it to me at the 2024 Presidential Ballot Box, but how did that work out?” Trump asked, using a weird turn of phrase to boast about his narrow election victory over Democratic rival Kamala Harris.
“In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,” the president promised. “Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???”
Also on Monday night, Fox News’ Sean Hannity — another top ally of Trump — revealed he’d “picked out” a model of Tesla to buy after test-driving one owned by a friend. “Maybe it’s just a gesture on my part,” the anchor admitted.
