President-elect Donald Trump was “dead serious” about possibly picking Fox News personality Maria Bartiromo to be his running mate in the 2024 presidential election, according to a new book.
Trump was talking about Bartiromo for the role just months out from the election, according to excerpts published by CNN from “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power” by Politico’s Alex Isenstadt, which is scheduled for release in March.
But the then-GOP candidate was reportedly convinced not to tap Bartiromo by his team — who said they wouldn’t have enough time to vet her properly — and eventually picked JD Vance as his vice presidential candidate.
Bartiromo has conducted multiple friendly interviews with Trump and reportedly leaked her questions ahead of their 2020 sitdown. She is a longtime “favorite” of the former-turned-returning POTUS, said Isenstadt.
Trump’s argument in favor of Bartiromo was that she was “great with the big-donor Wall Street types and she knew how to do TV,” Isenstadt added.
