Liverpool looks to build some momentum in English Premier League action on Wednesday when they face Sunderland.

After a strong start to the new season, Liverpool has been a bumbling mess as of late. The club won its first five matches of the year, but fell back to lose four straight league contests. They have been up and down ever since, losing to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in consecutive contests, before finally getting back on the winning side of things against West Ham this past Sunday.
Sunderland has been one of the most pleasant surprises this season. After years of stumbling around the EFL, the Black Cats have made a solid return to the Premiership. Though they have not quite been playing at the same pace as they were at the beginning of the season, Sunderland has been looking pretty good lately, earning a draw against first-place Arsenal in early November, beating Bournemouth this past Saturday.
Sunderland sits sixth in the table, two points out of a Champions League spot, while eighth-place Liverpool is one point behind the Black Cats.
