When Easy A premiered on September 17, 2010, it gave the audience more than just a pocket full of sunshine.
The comedy, which is inspired by The Scarlet Letter, stars Emma Stone as teen outcast Olive Penderghast who lies about losing her virginity. When the rumor spreads across her high school campus and gives her a notorious reputation, Olive, who is studying the Nathaniel Hawthorne classic, decides to embrace the attention as she draws parallels between her life and the novel’s main character Hester Prynne.
In addition to Stone, the Easy A cast includes Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Aly Michalka, Lisa Kudrow, Stanley Tucci and more.
Easy A was a breakout role for Stone as a leading actress. She earned her first Golden Globe nomination for the film. The coming of age movie also earned Best Comedy Film at the Critics Choice Awards in 2011.
