Wilson made headlines in March thanks to a scathing interview in Teen Vogue in which she condemned the “cartoonishly evil” Trump administration and her father’s role in it, calling Musk a “pathetic man-child” before adding, “I don’t give a f*** about him. I really don’t.”
Wilson’s debut at New York Fashion Week may very well be her most visible attempt yet to leave the title of Elon Musk’s daughter behind. Wilson first stepped out at accessories designer Alexis Bittar’s spring/summer 2026 show, which was staged as a mock Miss USA pageant in an obvious callout of US President Donald Trump’s fondness for pageantry (he owned the Miss USA pageant until 2015).
Wilson then made an appearance modelling an oversized jumper, maxi skirt and clear heels at Prabal Gurung’s spring 2026 show, named Angels in America after the Pulitzer Prize-winning play documenting the Aids crisis that had a devastating effect on the LGBTQ community in the 1980s.
On Sunday, Wilson modelled a bikini top and white high-low skirt covered in Dauphinette’s signature green beetles at the brand’s spring/summer 2026 show, shrieking onto the runway (literally) in an attention-grabbing moment, which designer Olivia Cheng told The Washington Post was intended to “disrupt a pretty moment … Our society is in a critical place and nobody, not even the fashion girls, can afford to rest on our laurels”.
