Enes Kanter Freedom keeps insisting he has hopes of one day playing basketball in the WNBA, and it appears he already knows what team he wants to play for.
Appearing recently as a guest on Fox News, Freedom said he hopes he gets drafted by the Indiana Fever so that he can play alongside Caitlin Clark, as he believes they will be the “modern-day Shaq and Kobe.”
“I think it might be really good for them because I will be playing in the 2027 season, and I will be the best draft pick the WNBA has ever seen,” Freedom said.
He said his goal is to break Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point record, as he will be “dunking everything in the name of equality.”
Freedom’s appearance on Fox News came a day after it was revealed he is planning to sue the Chicago Sky after he claims he was mistreated when he was ejected from a WNBA game against the Fever.
“People are mad at me. People are calling me a misogynist,” Freedom said. “… I’m simply following the rules. If they want to come out and change the rules, I will gladly be the first one to follow.”
Over the past month, Freedom has been facing backlash after announcing he was declaring for the WNBA draft as a transgender player, as the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement does not properly define the term “women” nor specify anything about biological sex, hormone levels or physical attributes, deeming him eligible to join the league.
Last month, Freedom was publicly called out by Sparks star Cameron Brink as she called him a “stupid piece of s—t.”
As the WNBA has no players who consider themselves transgender, Brink went on to say that Freedom is making an issue out of something that is considered a “non-issue.”
Former NBA player Patrick Beverley also called him out last month as he views Freedom’s decision to attempt to join the WNBA as a “stunt.”
