Will & Grace alum Eric McCormack was married to Janet Leigh Holden for two decades before they called it quits.
Us Weekly confirmed in November 2023 that Holden filed for divorce from McCormack after 26 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. He responded to her petition the next year.
Neither McCormack nor Holden have publicly addressed their separation, which was finalized in January 2026.

How Did Janet Leigh Holden Meet Eric McCormack?
Leigh Holden was introduced to McCormack on the set of 1989’s Lonesome Dove.
“I met my wife, Janet, in 1994 on the set of a TV series. She was the assistant director,” McCormack told The Guardian in 2007. “I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted. I’d been dating actresses, but Janet was different.”
He continued, “She wore jeans, drove a pick-up truck. At first she wasn’t too keen. She knew actors are a lot of work. It would be like taking your work home with you, but I managed to convince her.”
The pair kept their romance a secret for the duration of the Lonesome Dove shoot, eventually tying the knot in 1999.
Decades later, McCormack reminisced on how he met his then-wife.
“This is the first shot Janet & I took at the #LonesomeDove Season 1 Wrap Party, circa Dec ’94,” he captioned throwback Instagram footage in April 2020. “Just so happens this was our ‘coming out’ party. No one on the show knew we’d been dating for months.”
Janet Leigh Holden’s Career
Holden has also worked as an assistant TV director on the likes of The Edge, Mr. Magoo and Portraits of a Killer.
Do Eric McCormack and Janet Leigh Holden Have Children?
McCormack and Holden welcomed their only child together, son Finn, in July 2002.
“I remember once, I think it was Thanksgiving, and he walked in and we were sitting there, and an old rerun had come up,” McCormack told Us in March 2025 of Finn’s reaction to Will & Grace. “He looked at us and he looked at the screen and he looked back and he said, ‘Are you just going to sit and watch yourself on television all day? This is appalling!’”
The now-exes welcomed their son before Will & Grace wrapped after eight seasons.
“We’ve been going through old photographs, and I found pictures of my son at 3 [years old] at the final episode, the final taping in 2006, looking through the camera,” the actor told Us. “He didn’t know it. He was 3 years old, but he’s learned it now.”
Eric McCormack and Janet Leigh Holden’s Divorce Settlement
Us broke the news in January 2026 that McCormack was ordered to pay Holden $10,000 in monthly spousal support and multiple other assets. Holden will also retain a house in Los Angeles, two condos, four cars and a trailer, as well as a cut of McCormack’s retirement plans and Will & Grace residuals.
McCormack, for his part, retained one L.A. property, two Vespas and the rights to his three entertainment companies.
“All assets and investments acquired by [Holden] after the Date of Separation, and the rents, issue, profits and income from same,” the settlement docs read, adding the pair will both continue to financially support Finn.
