“Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.” — Warren Buffett

Missing out on the top five third basemen — players such as José Ramírez or Austin Riley — in the first 35 or so picks of your fantasy draft is not the end of the world. And, even if you do manage to land one of the top guys, it never hurts to add some depth — and there are plenty of third basemen who can provide value and become difference makers in your quest for fantasy glory.

Roto Rage believes drafting Cubs rookie Matt Shaw, who has played just 35 games above Double-A, could be a league-winning move.

Should you be worried about Shaw’s delayed start this spring (as of Friday, he hadn’t played in a spring training game) because of an oblique injury? What about the fact Chicago signed Justin Turner (who hasn’t played third base regularly since 2022) or the fact Shaw has never played in a big league game? The answer to all those questions is: No.
