Due to the New Year’s terror attack in New Orleans, the Sugar Bowl game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Georgia Bulldogs, originally scheduled for yesterday evening, was postponed to today.

The Fighting Irish punched their ticket to the CFP quarterfinals last week, in a rare inter-state matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers, in which the Fighting Irish won 27-17. They’ll play in the Sugar Bowl tonight, where they could win their first major bowl game in 31 years.

Their opponent? No. 2 seed Georgia Bulldogs, who will start their backup quarterback, Gunnar Stockton, after starter Carson Beck injured his elbow and promptly declared his intentions to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, ending his college career.

So far, all of the teams who received byes into the quaterfinals fell to their lower-seeded opponents in the quarterfinals. Will the Sugar Bowl continue or break that trend?
