Better late than never, the Giants are looking to add an alternative to Graham Gano.

Gano will miss “a few weeks” with his hamstring injury, head coach Brian Daboll revealed Monday.

It is unclear if the Giants will put the 37-year-old kicker on injured reserve — which would require him to miss at least four weeks — or try to keep him available in case he is a fast healer.

The Giants will hold a workout this week for free-agent kickers. Three kickers that the Giants carried last season when Gano was on injured reserve with a knee injury — Cade York, Randy Bullock and Mason Crosby — are available.

The other option is elevating rookie Jude McAtamney from the practice squad.

The Giants chose not to elevate McAtamney as an insurance policy for Sunday’s game after Gano popped up on the injury report with a groin injury.

It proved disastrous when Gano hurt his hamstring on the first play of the game and punter Jamie Gillan was not trusted to kick field goals or the final two PATs after his first PAT was unsuccessful, leaving about six points off the board in a 21-18 loss to the Commanders.

Daboll opted to see the hamstring injury as bad luck. But Dr. David Chao of Sports Injury Central — who spent 17 years as the head physician for the Chargers — told The Post that injuries “beget” other injuries.

Gano appeared to be laboring through his pregame warmups, even breaking from his routine to get his groin wrapped. It is possible that compensating while running with a right groin injury to chase down returner Austin Ekeler led to his right hamstring injury.

“I was flying,” Gano quipped after the game. “I’ve never had a hamstring injury so I can’t vouch for that [overcompensating]. It’s frustrating, but my mindset is to do everything I can to get back. I feel like I’ve been hitting the ball really well.”
