Heroes, zeros from Jets’ loss to Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence dominates in career day

Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ 48-20 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday:

Hero

Trevor Lawrence.

The Jaguars quarterback accounted for six TDs in the game, a career-high five through the air and one on the ground.

He finished 20-for-32 for 330 yards with the five passing TDs and one rushing.

Unsung hero

Travis Etienne Jr.

The Jaguars running back, who entered the game with 917 rushing yards, hurt the Jets with three receiving TDs.

He finished with just 32 rushing yards on 12 carries, but he caught three passes for 73 yards and the three TDs.

Zero

Tre Brown.

The Jets defensive back, who’d been elevated to the game-day roster on Sunday, committed an illegal block out of bounds that nullified a 50-yard punt return for a TD by Jets returner Isaiah Williams in the second quarter.

Had the play stood, it would have cut the Jacksonville lead to 21-14 at the time.

Key number

0. That’s how many interceptions the Jets had in the game Sunday … and have for the season, which is an NFL record for futility through 14 games.

Quote

“Man, we have to figure something out. We can’t lose games like that. It’s unacceptable.’’

— Jets head coach Aaron Glenn
