Gov. Kathy Hochul met with President Trump at the White House Friday where she touted congestion pricing as a big success – a day after the Trump administration announced plans to pull the plug on it.
Hochul and Trump met at the Oval Office for more than an hour for a “frank, candid conversation about New York’s key priorities including congestion pricing, immigration, infrastructure, economic development, energy, offshore wind and nuclear power,” confirmed Hochul spokesman Avi Small Saturday.
Hochul also presented Trump with “a booklet on the early success of congestion pricing,” crowed Small.
He declined to discuss the sit-down further, saying it was a private conversation.
The Hochul-controlled Metropolitan Transportation Authority filed a lawsuit Thursday to try to block the Trump administration’s efforts to kill the congestion tolling for drivers entering Manhattan below 60th Street – less than an hour after US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent a letter putting Gov. Kathy Hochul on notice.
MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber has praised the toll scheme and vowed to fight back against the administration’s “baseless effort.”
White House reps could not immediately be reached for comment Saturday.
