Home Alone star Daniel Stern reportedly received a citation for allegedly soliciting a prostitute.
Stern, 68, was reportedly at a hotel in Camarillo, California, on December 10, 2025, when Ventura County law enforcement officers issued him a citation for allegedly soliciting prostitution, according to police documents obtained by TMZ in a report published on Friday, January 9.
According to the same report, Stern was not detained or arrested in connection with the alleged incident. Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Stern for comment.
Stern enjoyed a successful Hollywood career amid his Home Alone success, including roles in The Wonder Years and City Slickers. After reprising his role as the airhead criminal Marv in Home Alone 2, Stern went on to appear in Rookie of the Year, Viva Las Vegas, A Previous Engagement and City Slickers II.
He has been married to Laure Mattos since 1980. The pair share three children, including California State Senator Henry Stern. They renewed their vows in a surprise ceremony on now-defunct The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019.
While Stern has taken a significant step back from the spotlight, he has made headlines in recent years, including a reported hospital stay in October 2025 following an undisclosed medical emergency. According to TMZ, who reported on the incident, Stern was assessed by firefighters at his California home and eventually transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later released. At the time, a rep for the actor confirmed he was in good health.
Stern also made headlines in 2024, when he detailed his Home Alone 2 salary disputes following the success of the first film.
“I got a call saying they had redone the shooting schedule, and they would now need me for eight weeks instead of six,” the actor wrote in his memoir, Home and Alone. “They were asking me to add on 33 percent more shooting time, so I asked if they were going to raise my salary the same amount, and they said they would not.”
Stern was initially paid $300,000 for six weeks of work on the original film, he explained. After questioning his salary put his role in the sequel in jeopardy, Stern said he eventually received a call from the producers, who said they wanted him to return to the movie so they would “honor the original contract and make the schedule six weeks.”
According to the actor, he was offered $600,000 to appear in Home Alone 2.
“Double my original salary, but not quite the pot of gold I was hoping for,” he wrote in his book, noting that he asked whether that was “the same” amount Pesci was making.
“They said it was not,” Stern claimed.
The actor said he was eventually able to raise his Home Alone 2 salary to $800,000 after learning that Pesci was making “somewhere between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000 plus gross percentage of profits.”
“I knew they couldn’t do the movie without me, but I was also insecure, since I almost blew it the first time,” he wrote, revealing that eventually he got the studio to agree to a salary of $1.5 million and 1 percent of the gross profits. “I didn’t want to be too greedy when I loved the movie and the part so much.”
