NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Muggy conditions have remained this morning with patchy fog in the far-eastern areas. A few lingering showers remain in the higher elevations to Southern New Mexico with gusty winds for a few areas. Temperatures are mostly starting off in the high 40s or in the 50s, while parts of the state are starting off in the 50s to the lower 70s.

Light southerly winds with a high pressure system to the east will combine to for monsoon storms across a few of the burn scars, with flooding still possible. Some thick clouds will dampen temperatures, with most reaching the high 70s, 80s, and in the 90s, while some highly-elevated areas or northern areas may not get out of the high 60s.

Moist air is in place, but the pattern of muggy mornings with breezy easterly winds shifting to southwesterly drier winds will continue. Fewer storms will form today with hotter afternoons in the short term. More storms will form with an influx of low-level moisture from the Gulf and lower pressure from the Rockies keeping that stormy, muggy pattern in place later this week.
