About the show:
“Kids Baking Championship” follows some of the nation’s best young bakers as they compete against each other to become the next Kids Baking Champion. Throughout the season, they will need to create the best dishes and impress judges Duff Goldman and Kardea Brown with presentation, taste and creativity. The theme this season is amazing animals.
Ella Hayek, a 10-year-old from Ann Arbor, Michigan, is among this season’s 12 contestants. She first got into baking at six years old because of her grandma, who owns restaurants.
In tonight’s season 13 premiere, “Amazing Animals: Scales, Feathers, Fur and Fins‚” there is a gorgeous parrot and loveable cockatoo in the kitchen. For the kickoff challenge, hosts and judges Goldman and Brown ask the bakers to create an animal texture tart decorated with creature-inspired features like scales, feathers, fur or fins. Then, for a twist, the kids must add an edible version of their animal’s tail to their dessert.
Tune in for a new season tonight, Jan. 6, at 8/7c on Food Network.
