One of the best high school football games in the country will not be played as scheduled.

IMG Academy confirmed with USA TODAY’s Florida Network that the highly anticipated matchup against St. Frances (Md.) will not take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 as previously scheduled.

The game was set to be a major barometer for deciding the No. 1 team in the country and a national champion.

IMG Academy, known as a stable for elite talent and ranked as the No. 3 team in the country on MaxPreps, has gone undefeated this season with wins over national programs like Hoover (Ala.), Central (Ala.), Venice, East St. Louis (Ill.), and Hun (N.J.).

St. Frances (No. 1 in the country on MaxPreps) is also at the top of the high school football food chain, led by 5-stars Zion Elle (Maryland commit) and Jireh Edwards (Alabama commit). The Panthers’ lone loss this season came at the hands of St. John Bosco (N.J.), another elite program vying for a national title. St. Frances opened the season with a blowout win over Chaminade-Madonna, and went on to rattle off wins over St. Joseph’s Prep (Penn.), The First Academy, Hun (N.J.), and St. James Academy (Va.).

IMG Academy declined to clarify if the game was outright cancelled or is being postponed to a later date.
