If Daniel Jones was watching what is now his old Giants side on Sunday, his new blueprint was clear.

Baker Mayfield represents the dream path forward for Jones after his six-year Giants tenure came to a crashing end last week.

Sunday marked the Giants’ first game since benching Jones, relegating him to fourth on the depth chart and then cutting him after his request to ownership. The Giants opted for third-stringer Tommy DeVito, bypassing backup Drew Lock.

The switch changed little as Mayfield and the Buccaneers embarrassed the Giants, cruising to a 30-7 win at MetLife Stadium. Mayfield completed 24 of 30 passes for 294 yards and added 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground as well. After a four-game losing streak, Sunday’s win kept the Buccaneers right in the thick of the playoff picture.
