Want to own the HGTV Dream Home in Florida? It’ll be back on the market soon.
Intially, the 2024 HGTV Dream Home winner decided not to move from New York to live in the $2.2 million Anastasia Island, Florida, abode.
Marie Fratta, a veteran elementary school teacher from Westchester County, New York, was picked out of 130 million entries for the 2024 HGTV Dream Home sweepstakes. She was notified by the home and garden television network of her epic prize, and HGTV announced the news May 22, 2024, months after the contest ended. Voting was from Dec. 22, 2023, to Feb. 15, 2024 on HGTV and Food Network sites.
Like others before her, Fratta had to choose whether to move into the HGTV Dream Home or to take the cash option.
But two months after HGTV announced Fratta as its winner, the house was listed for sale. In August 2024, real estate sites such as Zillow and Realtor.com showed an asking price of $1.9 million.
Fratta took the title of the house, then later sold it. Property records show the HGTV Dream Home sold Sept. 4, 2024, for $2 million. Matt and Gretchen Territo of trustedterritory.com represented the buyers in the 2024 HGTV Dream Home sale. Here’s what we know.
Who won 2024 HGTV Dream Home on Anastasia Island, Florida? Did HGTV Dream Home winner take cash option?
The 2024 HGTV Dream Home in the exclusive waterfront community of Pelican Reef on Anastasia Island, near St. Augustine, Florida, was designed by architect Michael Stauffer and built by local builder Glenn Layton Homes. The home’s interior design was by Brian Patrick Flynn. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home is about 3,300 square feet with views of the Matanzas River and the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Value of the total Anastasia Island HGTV Dream Home package was estimated at just over $2.2 million. Keys to the fully furnished home, which, according to rules, includes home furnishings, fixtures, artwork and merchandise for an approximate retail value of $2,069,595

Had Fratta taken the cash option, she would have received $650,000 in cash, per contest rules.

The 2024 HGTV Dream Home on Anastasia Island, near St. Augustine, Florida, will be listed Monday, April 21, 2025, the day after Easter Sunday, according to Matt and Gretchen Territo of trustedterritory.com and Team Territo at Keller Williams Atlantic Partners St. Augustine. The real estate couple represented the buyers, John and Jane Pope, in the 2024 HGTV Dream Home sale with winner Marie Fratta.
“She did elect to sell it,” Gretchen Territo said in a November 2024 interview with the USA TODAY Network. “My understanding is that she is a teacher, and he was a fireman, and they lived in New York. They did vacation in the (HGTV Dream) house a few times … before they sold and it went away.”
What will Zillow, Realtor.com listing say about 2024 HGTV Dream Home in Florida?
In an April 2025 email to the USA TODAY Network, Matt and Gretchen Territo said the HGTV Dream Home will be on the market starting Monday, April 21, 2025. The custom home is “designed to blend luxurious coastal living with everyday comfort,” the email said. “From the breezy gray-blue exterior to the light-filled interiors and open-concept layout, this home was designed to impress. Located just minutes from Anastasia State Park, the Amphitheatre and downtown St. Augustine, it’s the perfect blend of elegance, nature and convenience.”

The Anastasia Island location is the latest Florida site for the HGTV Dream Home sweepstakes contests since it started in 1997. Over the years, there have been five HGTV Dream Homes in Florida, more than any other state. On the flip side, there have been only two people from Florida who won an HGTV Dream Home since the sweepstakes contest began. Still, that’s seven HGTV Dream Home ties to the Sunshine State.
