Since the scouting combine returned after the pandemic, it’s been something of a non-event for the Islanders.
Of course they went. Of course they took it seriously. But under Lou Lamoriello, the Islanders traded away their first-round picks for four straight seasons before finally making one last year in Cole Eiserman. Rarely did the combine feel like a week of major consequence.
Not so this time around.
The franchise’s best stroke of luck in quite a long time and a change in the GM chair means that all eyes are on the Islanders in Buffalo this week at the combine.
