Mathieu Darche wasted no time at all in picking up where Lou Lamoriello left off.
The new Islanders general manager made his first two moves Friday, signing Kyle Palmieri to a two-year contract extension at $4.75 million annually and Adam Boqvist to a one-year contract extension for $850,000, per industry sources.
Both deals had been worked on by Lamoriello prior to his ouster more than a month ago, and Darche took over the negotiations where they left off.
Palmieri, 34, accounted for 48 points a year ago.
Boqvist, a midseason acquisition from the Panthers, played 17 games with the Islanders and had eight points with the team.
