Rob and Michele Reiner’s son Jake Reiner made his first public appearance since his parents’ gruesome murders and his brother Nick Reiner’s arrest.

“Attended the premiere of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness this week,” Jake, 35, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, June 25, alongside photos of himself on the red carpet. “Comes out Friday on @hbo @hbomax, look out for me in the first episode 🫡 🇺🇸 #LifeLarryAmerica.”

Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness is a historical sketch comedy series created by Larry David and Jeff Schaffer and produced by former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. Jake is set to portray Private Wallace in one of the sketches, according to IMDb.

Jake attended the show’s premiere on Tuesday, June 23, wearing black pants, a navy sports coat over a gray T-shirt and black shoes. He flashed a huge smile as he posed for photos on the red carpet.

The event came six months after Rob and Michele were found dead with multiple sharp force injuries at their home in Brentwood, California. They were 78 and 70, respectively.

Nick, 32, was arrested on suspicion of his parents’ murders in December 2025. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty in February. The screenwriter is being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles until his trial. He is next scheduled to appear in court in September.

Rob and Michele shared sons Jake and Nick, along with daughter Romy, 29. Additionally, Rob was a father to daughter Tracy, 61, whom he adopted during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall.

Jake and Romy broke their silence on their parents’ deaths shortly after their brother’s arrest, telling TMZ, “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The siblings continued, “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

In April, Jake remembered his parents via social media ahead of his birthday. In a lengthy essay, he recalled the moment he learned about Rob and Michele’s deaths and called his mom and dad the “center” of his life.

“A week from today, I will be approaching my first birthday without my parents,” he wrote in his Instagram caption. “I consider myself lucky to have had them by my side for the past 34 years. In the last four months, I’ve learned a lot about grief. I want to thank @iamdavidkessler, who has been instrumental in navigating the horrors of this process, as well as my family and friends.”

Jake concluded, “For anyone dealing with any type of grief and loss, I see you.”
