James Franklin wasn’t out of a job for long.
The former Penn State football coach is finalizing a deal to be named Virginia Tech’s next head coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The news comes a little more than a month after Franklin was ousted at Penn State and fills a job that has been vacant since Brent Pry was let go on September 14 after the Hokies had started the year 0-3.
Philip Montgomery has been serving as Virginia Tech’s interim coach since then and the Hokies are coming off a 34-14 loss to Florida State on Saturday.
