Everyone is wondering if Travis Kelce is going to retire, including his own brother.
Jason Kelce, the former Eagles center and current ESPN analyst, addressed what could be going through the mind of his younger sibling as he approaches the final weeks of the season.
Questions about Travis future have intensified after the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday and quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear, which he had surgery for on Monday.
Jason was asked about how he thinks Travis will “approach” the decision ahead of the “Monday Night Football” showdown between the Steelers and Dolphins.
“Oh, I’m curious too,” Jason Kelce said. “In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit. Play these last three games. Enjoy them with your teammates, enjoy them with your coaches. The team’s going to be different no matter whether you come back or not next year. So, enjoy these last three games. And then let it sink in.
“It will come to you with time. There’s so many emotions with this game, right after a season. Especially with the way this has been. It’s been so up and down. I mean, they’re 1-7 in one-score games. They’ve been close. And right now, it’s just too fresh. You gotta step away from it. You gotta think about it. And then, yeah, it will come to you.”
Travis Kelce is in his 13th NFL season and has 67 catches for 797 yards and five touchdowns this year.
But the younger Kelce brother will be 37 next October and he was mulling retirement after last season.
The Chiefs’ tight end, engaged to pop sensation Taylor Swift, has previously said that he would make a decision on his football future after the season.
