In 2012, Kieran Culkin met Jazz Charton at a bar in New York City. “I said, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’” he recounted. “She said, ‘Jazz.’ I said, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ And she said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s fucking stupid.’”
The two have been together ever since. “I took a shot at the most beautiful and charismatic person I’ve ever known and she said yes to a date with me,” Culkin said last month. “Now I’m married to her, so I aimed pretty high there and I ended up with my best friend and a great person. I have two beautiful kids and I want to be the best dad ever, so I work really hard at that.”
Jazz is similarly effusive in her praise of her husband, writing in 2021, “Proud would be an understatement. So lucky to see this impressive man achieve his dreams – even while our kids deprive me of sleep and just general quality of life.”

She was born and raised in London.
Jazz was raised by a single mom, Corinne “Coco” Charton. Her mom, Coco, is a fashion model turned artist.
According to Coco’s bio, “Following a career as a fashion model, Corinne Charton decided to pursue her interest in art at Central Saint Martins with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, 2003 and went on to complete her MA in Fine Art at Middlesex university in 2016. She has held four solo shows…Her work is in public and private collections, including Central St Martins, University of the Arts London.”
She and Kieran eloped around a year after they met.
In August 2013, they eloped in Iowa while on a road trip. A few years later, she posted, “#tbt to taking time out of our road trip to get married by the side of the road in Iowa during a storm 4 years ago today. Still the best pit stop I’ve ever made.”
Jazz is a writer.
She is currently a contributor to the Financial Times, where she’s recently penned essays such as “Moving to the US has unleashed my inner Brit” and “Why do we keep the junk we inherit?”
When she and Kieran first met, she was working in the music department of an ad agency.
She is a mom of two.
Jazz and Kieran have two kids, Kinsey (born 2019) and Wilder (born 2021).
“One thing that was really key for us was, in the first six, seven, or eight months of us being parents, it was just this haze of, ‘What the fuck are we doing?’” Culkin shared. “And then we started going to this playground, and that helped us meet a lot of really good parents. Then it really stands out when you see a shit parent. It’s like, ‘Oh, you took some effort here to really not be around your kids or give a shit.’”
When Kieran won an Emmy last year, he thanked Jazz and said he wanted mor kids. “And of course my beautiful wife Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids…I love you so many and so much. And Jazz, I want more!”
Jazz is a big supporter of her husband.
At awards shows and film premieres, Charton can always be found lovingly supporting her husband and standing by his side.
