Kieran Culkin has been on a roll this awards season for his performance in the family dramedy A Real Pain, and tonight, we’ll discover if he takes home Hollywood’s most coveted trophy. The Succession star is nominated for Best Supporting Actor—a prize he’s previously taken home this season from the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, Critics Choice Awards, and (just last week) the SAG Awards—competing against none other than his former on-screen sibling, Jeremy Strong. This marks Culkin’s first Oscar nomination.

On the big night, Culkin walked the red carpet wearing an inky ensemble with a deep green tuxedo jacket, black shirt, and black bowtie combo by Zegna, with black John Lobb loafers. He accented the look with a stunning custom Kwiat Fred Leighton brooch studded with emerald, peridot, and purple sapphire. Though the beautiful gems stood out on their own, they were made even more special for the sweet meaning behind them—the stones are in fact the birthstones of his wife, writer Jazz Charton, and their two children.

Charton has been his biggest supporter throughout the season, and she remained by his side at the Oscars, wearing a strapless, sequined pewter gown. “I took a shot at the most beautiful and charismatic person I’ve ever known and she said yes to a date with me,” he said of his wife in 2024.

In hilariously on-brand Roy fashion, Culkin and fellow former Succession star Strong had disparate reactions to their Best Actor nominations. Strong shared an emotional statement, reading in part, “This morning’s nomination is indescribably meaningful to me. This film has been an uphill battle every step of the way and faced inestimable resistance on every front. It feels absolutely miraculous to me that both Sebastian [Stan] and I were recognized.”

Culkin’s only public reaction at the time was a post on his wife’s Instagram story of the actor pouring two glasses of champagne on a balcony in Paris with the caption, “Let’s fucking gooooooo!”
