Kylie Kelce is no longer concealing her political opinions, but she is speaking up about why she stayed quiet during the 2024 presidential election.
During a recent interview with The New York Times, the mom of three revealed her views “aggressively lean” left, despite what some people speculated earlier this year. In the article published on Dec. 19, the outlet recounted how online debates questioned whether Kelce, 32, sided with President-elect Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris, the latter possibility being bolstered by an endorsement by Taylor Swift, who dates Kelce’s brother-in-law, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Kelce recalled how cars waving Trump flags “slow-rolled past” her home, where the Pennsylvania native lives with her husband, former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, and their three daughters.
“To me, that was like, ‘We know where you live,'” she told The New York Times, who noted that she and Jason live in a populated neighborhood. Now that the election is over and she feels safer, Kelce denied any regard for how other people perceive her politics.
“I mean this in the most respectful way,” she said in the interview. “I don’t care what other people have to say.”
Kelce’s recent endeavor, her new Wave Sports + Entertainment podcast Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, recently made headlines after it debuted on Dec. 5. The first episode soared to No. 1 on Spotify and Apple, bumping The Joe Rogan Experience to second place. After knocking his podcast chart supremacy, some of Joe Rogan’s fans — many of whom favor oppositely leaning politics to Kelce — voiced hostility towards her success.
But as she said in the article published on Thursday, their mockery and skepticism of her success further fires her up. “That’s getting me going,“ she told the outlet. She said she “couldn’t care less” about how high she sits on the rankings, especially as it compares to Rogan’s placement.
“I’m focused on putting out content that people like to consume,” said Kelce. “If that puts us there for a week, cool. If it puts us there for longer than that, cool. But I also don’t need to feed any conflict that’s created by it.”
During the election, candidates took their campaign on popular podcasts, like Harris’ conversation with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy and Trump’s three-hour appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Kelce told The New York Times that she would also host any political figures on her show, naming Michelle Obama and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as potential guests. She cited the latter’s initiative to put free period products in school bathrooms as something she admires.
“I would talk to Michelle Obama in a heartbeat, and I know she is not personally running,” said Kelce, adding that she’d “love it” if the former First Lady would run for office.
