12 NEWS. THIS NEW SEASON OF KIDS BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP DEBUTS NEXT MONTH ON FOOD NETWORK, AND A GIRL FROM SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN IS LOOKING TO CLAIM THE CROWN. 11 YEAR OLD CARLEY VAN PELT JOINS ME NOW. CARLEY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING WITH US. OF COURSE. SO YOU ARE FROM LAKE GENEVA, WHICH IS IN OUR VIEWING AREA. AND WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE ABLE TO REPRESENT SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN ON THE NATIONAL STAGE DURING THE SHOW? IT’S REALLY AMAZING BECAUSE LIKE ALSO, THERE HASN’T BEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE FROM KBC, FROM WISCONSIN, WHICH IS FUN BECAUSE I THINK THERE’S BEEN ONLY ONE OTHER PERSON, WHICH IS REALLY EXCITING. AND TO BE ABLE TO REPRESENT THAT IS AMAZING. IT’S SO COOL. WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU THAT YOU’RE ABLE TO REPRESENT US. AND THIS SEASON IS REALLY FOCUSED ON SORT OF ANIMAL INSPIRATION, AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW A LOT ABOUT. I HEARD THAT YOU WERE MAKING YOUR OWN TREATS, RIGHT? YEAH. SO I HAVE A BUSINESS CALLED BP’S TREATS AND WE MAKE DOG TREATS, HORSE TREATS AND THEN HUMAN TREATS. SO THAT’S REALLY FUN. AND I’M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS SEASON AS WELL, BECAUSE ANIMALS AND I LOVE ANIMALS. AND I’VE LOVED ANIMALS FOR A WHILE. YEAH. IS THAT HOW YOU SORT OF GOT YOUR LOVE OF BAKING WAS STARTING WITH WHAT YOU WANTED TO MAKE FOR DOGS AND HORSES AND WHATNOT? YEAH, DEFINITELY. BUT ALSO, I FEEL LIKE I’VE GOTTEN A LOT FROM, LIKE, BEING LIKE, OH, I’VE SEEN LIKE SO MANY DIFFERENT FLAVORS OF DOG TREATS. AND I’M LIKE, WAIT, LIKE, THERE’S SOME OTHER ONES THAT, LIKE, PEOPLE HAVEN’T REALLY DONE BEFORE THAT COULD BE FUN AND DOGS COULD REALLY LIKE THEM. AND THEY COULD ALSO BE A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE TO SOME OF THE JUNK THAT THEY PUT IN THERE. TOTALLY. AND WE ACTUALLY HAVE SOME OF YOUR TREATS HERE TODAY. SO WE HAVE SOME CUPCAKES ON DISPLAY. BUT YOU’D ALSO LIKE TO SHOW US A DEMONSTRATION. CAN YOU SORT OF TAKE IT AWAY? YEAH. SO OF COURSE WE ARE GOING TO BE MAKING THESE LITTLE LIKE POINSETTIA FLOWER CUPCAKES. SO FIRST I HAVE MY SWISS MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM, AND IT’S KIND OF LIKE A PINKY COLOR. AND I’M JUST GOING TO KIND OF PULL AND DO LIKE A KIND OF A BASELINE FOR MY POINSETTIA FLOWER. PRETTY. AND THESE ARE HUMAN CONSUMPTION CUPCAKES. RIGHT? YES. AND HOW DID YOU LEARN HOW TO DO ALL OF THESE TECHNIQUES? I FEEL LIKE A BIG INFLUENCE ON A LOT OF MY TECHNIQUES HAVE BEEN LIKE THE INTERNET, BECAUSE THERE’S A LOT OF REALLY COOL THINGS, ESPECIALLY ON THERE, THAT YOU CAN FIND A LOT OF INSPIRATION AND STUFF. AND WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE TO BE ON THIS TV SHOW AT 11 YEARS OLD? I’M SURE IT WAS KIND OF SCARY AT FIRST. IT’S DEFINITELY IT’S AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE, BUT IT’S DEFINITELY OVERWHELMING. AND THEY SHOW IT’S LIKE A LOT THAT THEY DON’T SHOW ON TV. THAT’S LIKE, IT’S CRAZY. LIKE THE TIME IS RUNNING OUT. WE DON’T HAVE ANYTHING. THE PRESSURE. YEAH, YEAH, IT’S A LOT. HARLEY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US. WE WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK. WE’LL BE ROOTING FOR YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. YOU CAN CATCH CARLY VAN PELT ON THE KIDS BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP ON FOOD NETWORK.
