If LeBron James had things his way, he’d be planted on his couch this Christmas.

The Lakers star got candid over the weekend about being scheduled to play yet again on Dec. 25, telling a gaggle of journalists he’d prefer to be at his mansion with loved ones this holiday go-around.

“I’d much rather be at home with my family,” the 40-year-old admitted.

James has been in the league since 2003, and he’s played 19 times on Christmas during his NBA tenure. Thursday’s home matchup against the Rockets will mark the 20th time he’ll suit up on Santa’s big day.

James, though, did say that while the comforts of his mansion sound more appealing than the Crypto.com Arena hardwood, he still considers it a privilege.

“It’s the game — it’s the game I love,” James said. “It’s the game I watched when I was a kid on Christmas Day, watching a lot of the greatest play the game on Christmas. It’s always been an honor to play it.

“Obviously, I’m going to be completely honest, I would like to be home on the couch with my family all throughout the day. But our number is called, so we have to go out and perform and I look forward to it.”

Tip-off for the Xmas tilt is slated for 8 p.m. ET.

Before that, the Lakers will play a road game against the Suns on Tuesday night. James’ team currently sits at 19-8 and in fourth place in the Western Conference.
