Life in the NBA can be exhausting and take you away from your closest friends and family members.
For the second year in a row at Fanatics Fest, LeBron James was interviewed by kid reporter Jazlyn Guerra, the host of Jazzy’s World TV, and asked James about how he finds balance between his professional career and family time.
“The best thing I have is, I have support,” James said. “My wife, Savannah, does a great job of when I’m out playing my sport or doing my job. She holds the household down; she’s the queen of the kingdom. That helps tremendously, and our family wouldn’t be as tight as we are without her.”
James went on to say that when he isn’t playing basketball, he tries to reinsert himself into the family picture.
Jazlyn also asked James about sacrificing certain pieces of his life, to which James admitted he might not have always been around for friends and family. He said working hard and sacrificing having fun will pay off later in life.
“Doing things that you would love to do like your friends,” said James, the league’s all-time scoring leader. “Like you want to hang out with your friends a lot sometimes, and when I was younger, I had to sacrifice, maybe not going out with them, because I had to get up and work out the next day.”
James, 41, has spent the last 23 years of his life in the NBA and has had one of the greatest careers the sport has seen.
But what might be overlooked is his dedication as a father.
While dealing with the busy schedule of an NBA player, James has also been present in his kids’ lives, notably his sons Bronny and Bryce, when they played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon.
After Bronny graduated from Sierra, he enrolled at USC, and LeBron was often present at his games.
In 2024, Bronny became teammates with his dad, and the two became the first active father-son duo to share the court as teammates.
