Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman and wife Chelsea Freeman’s relationship has been a well-documented home run.

Freddie and Chelsea got married in November 2014 and have since welcomed three sons: Charlie, Brandon and Maximus

The whole family made the move to California when Freddie signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers in March 2022 after spending the first 12 seasons of his professional career with the Atlanta Braves.

While Freddie and Chelsea have both been active on social media sharing photos from their busy lives, things took a serious turn in summer 2024 when their youngest son, Maximus, suffered a major health scare.

Along the way, both Freddie and Chelsea provided updates about Max’s journey, which earned them support and admiration from both Dodgers and non-Dodgers fans alike.

June 2011

Freddie and Chelsea started dating in late 2010, celebrating six months together in June 2011.

Freddie was already in his second season with the Braves at the time, while Chelsea was still in college.

January 2014

Chelsea announced the couple was engaged in January 2014.

“He makes me smile every single day, he encourages me when I’m down, he still opens my car door, he’s learned to buy me a card and flowers every birthday,” Chelsea shared via Instagram. “I’ve watched him mature into the amazing man he is today. He is the first and only man I have ever loved… 3 years ago he asked me to be his girlfriend. And I’m sure glad he did.”

Chelsea concluded, “I could not imagine life without you and I cannot wait to be your wife!!!”

November 2014

Less than a year after announcing their engagement, Freddie and Chelsea got married at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami, Florida.

After tying the knot, an episode of Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta featured Chelsea picking out her look for the ceremony.

To celebrate the couple’s nine-year wedding anniversary in November 2023, Freddie showed off some photos via Instagram of the couple on the beach on their wedding day.

February 2021

Just six weeks after Brandon’s birth, the couple welcomed their third son, Maximus, via surrogacy in February 2021.

After experiencing fertility issues, Freddie and Chelsea made the decision to use an alternative route.

“We tried for a couple of years, and it didn’t happen,” the Freemans told ESPN after Max was born. “We were talking with doctors, and they suggested surrogacy. We jumped at that, because we wanted to be blessed with more kids.”

However, after electing to use a surrogate, Chelsea found out she was pregnant with Brandon. Thus, the couple welcomed two sons in very short succession, who they deemed their “twins with a twist.”

August 2024

Freddie and Chelsea revealed 3-year-old Max had been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Guillain-Barré syndrome, a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves.

Max was rushed to the emergency room and spent 8 days in the ICU after suddenly not being able to sit, stand or walk.

“These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives,” the couple said in a joint Instagram statement. “Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard. This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed.”

September 2024

Max made his triumphant return to Dodger Stadium in September 2024 to see his dad’s team take on the Cleveland Guardians.

“Good to have you back, Max! 💙,” the Dodgers official Instagram post wrote alongside a photo of Max, his mom and two brothers.

October 2024

Chelsea was on hand to watch her husband win the 2024 World Series with the Dodgers in New York City, where he was dubbed the MVP. Later that month, the couple celebrated the championship with their three sons as part of the team’s victory parade back in Los Angeles.
