Brianna “Bri” McNees and Connor Spies have proved that Love Is Blind after all.
Bri, 34, and Connor, 32, revealed during the season 10 reunion that they gave their relationship another shot after calling off their engagement.
“We are still together actually, ” Connor said during the reunion, which dropped Wednesday, March 11, on Netflix. “So, we can finally [hold hands and cuddle]. It just kind of lived life as, like, it was almost like a new chapter of, ‘OK, we did one of the craziest things. Let’s see how life looks just on a normal day-to-day basis.’”
Connor ended up moving next door to Bri in Columbus, Ohio, where they’ve been dating since the show wrapped.
News of their rekindling comes after Bri and Connor decided not to go through with their planned nuptials ahead of the March 4 finale.
“This is the most bizarre, exciting, expansive, coolest thing I’ve ever done and I couldn’t have done it without you,” Bri said in episode 11, which aired on Netflix late last month. “I wouldn’t have done it without you, like, there’s no chance, but you’re not getting the best of me right now because I have just been grinding.”
She continued, “What’s really sad is, like, I know I can give so much more. When I see my friends and family tell you [that] you’re not getting the best version of me and ‘This isn’t me right now,’ it really hurts.”
Despite her love for Connor, Bri questioned whether she was ready to walk down the aisle with him.
“You really do love me for the good, the bad and the ugly,” she said at the time. “Transparently, when I came into your house, I see your car, [and] I’m, like, ‘This guy doesn’t give a s*** about anything. What does this mean about how he’s going to show up for a presentation of our house and our family and his job?’”
According to Bri, seeing Connor’s apparently lackluster belongings made her feel that he was “lazy” and didn’t have any pride in himself.
“There’s no hustle, there’s no grit [and] there’s no pride to this,” she said. “It just made me feel, like, ‘Who is this guy? Is he just going to be a liability?’ I don’t know. I’m just so used to someone that’s out-alpha’d me [who has] been the leader.”
Connor, however, believed that he was ready to marry Bri and eventually start a family.
“I am optimistic, and I know that you’re not going to run,” he said of Bri’s hopes to continue dating after the show wrapped. “You’ve consistently proven that you’re going to be there for me.”
Bri and Connor fell in love in the Love Is Blind pods during season 10, which was set in Ohio. Before Connor popped the question sight unseen, Bri was also getting to know Chris Fusco before he ended their connection to pursue now-ex-fiancée Jessica Barrett.
When Chris, 33, and Jessica, 39, split, he tried to shoot his shot with Bri at a cast party by claiming that Connor was too “submissive” for his bride-to-be.
“I had a great relationship with him until, like you see, who you thought was a friend use some of the things that you told him in confidence against you to try and win your girl,” Connor exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of the March finale. “It’s not usually going to work, especially in this situation, but it brought me and Bri together.”
He continued, “I was surprised at the way he tried to do it, but it is what it is. We don’t really talk anymore, as you can imagine.”
As for Bri, she told Us that the “ship had sailed” with Chris after their pod breakup.
“When we called it off, it became friendly,” Bri explained. “We were all taken aback by, like, ‘Who is this person?’ That just goes to show anyone could show up as anybody in this experiment. It was not only disrespectful toward Jess, but also Connor. They were best friends in the pods, and to see him flip a switch like that … it was crazy.”
Love Is Blind is now streaming on Netflix.
