Commuters are facing major delays on the capital’s rail network tonight, after two people were struck by trains in separate incidents on Thursday.
Southern Rail confirmed a person was fatally hit by a train near Bushey Railway Station, Hertfordshire earlier this afternoon, resulting in major disruption between Watford Junction and London Euston.
All services were suspended following the incident just after 12.30pm, including from and to Euston Station.
The lines have now reopened, but some trains are still cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or are operating at revised times.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: ‘Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 12.30pm today (26 September) near Bushey Railway Station.

‘Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
National Rail tonight warned that major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
The routes affected include Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Birmingham New Street, Chester, Manchester Piccadilly, Holyhead, Liverpool Lime Street, Blackpool North, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.
There is also disruption to London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and Tring, Milton Keynes Central, Birmingham New Street and Crewe.
Avanti West Coast customers are being advised that all ticket restrictions have now been lifted.
Tickets for travel today can be used tomorrow and at no extra cost on CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway, LNER between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh, Transport for Wales between Crewe and Holyhead and West Midlands Railway via any reasonable route.
London Northwestern Railways customers can use rail replacement transport between Milton Keynes Central and Harrow & Wealdstone in both directions.
Tickets are also valid for travel on CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Underground and Thameslink.
In a separate incident, a person was struck by a train this afternoon between Tottenham Hale and Broxbourne.
This has resulted in major delays on all routes from Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Hertford East, which are expected until 10.30pm.
Greater Anglia routes between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, Cambridge, Cambridge North, Hertford East, Ely, and also between Stratford and Broxbourne and Bishops Stortford have been affected.
Delays are also in place on the London Overground between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt and the Stansted Express between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport.
In a separate incident, a person was struck by a train this afternoon between Tottenham Hale and Broxbourne resulting in major delays on all routes from Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Hertford East
Earlier today, Barnes railway station was closed following a serious stabbing.
British Transport Police confirmed officers were called at around 7.10am and a person was taken to hospital with injuries that are considered to be life threatening.
Following the incident, Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: ‘There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network and detectives are working at pace to investigate the incident.
‘The station will remain closed while our initial enquiries are carried out, and the public will see increased high-visibility patrols in the area and across the network to provide reassurance.’
