ASHEVILLE – A downtown pizzeria will close to make room for another; a cannabis smoking lounge with coffee bar has closed downtown, but plans to return; a Biltmore Village restaurant reopens for the first time after Tropical Storm Helene; and several events to put on the social calendar, including yoga and cocktail classes, burlesque and magic shows, and chef dining experiences.
Manicomio Pizza closing, new pizza shop coming
Manicomio Pizza will permanently close at 27 Biltmore Ave. at the end of June, after nearly eight years in business, according to its social media account.
Yet, the space will continue to operate as a downtown pizzeria with new owners as Birdie’s Pizza. According to Birdie’s Pizza’s Instagram account, the menu will offer New York-style pizza rounds and squares, as well as 20-inch whole pies and slices.
Little Amsterdam on the move
Little Amsterdam Dispensary and Lounge, which features a café and cannabis smoking room, announced on social media that it has closed “due to unforeseen circumstances” at 30 Battery Park Ave.

Yoga and cocktail class at Flat Iron Hotel
The Flat Iron Hotel, home of the Italian-Appalachian restaurant Luminosa, will host two events to take care of the mind, body, soul and tastebuds.

Yoga at The Flat Iron Hotel: Inversions Clinic will be from 9-10:30 a.m. June 26 in the second-floor co-working space, Iron Works, at 20 Battery Park Ave. downtown.
The event is free and open to hotel guests and locals of all yoga skill levels. Reservations are required at Eventbrite.
Instructor Jenny Cornero will lead the 90-minute yoga workshop, focusing on “the art of inversion to deepen connection to body, breath and inner strength.” Participants will learn foundational techniques, emphasizing alignment, breath, body awareness and perspective shifts. Also, Cornero will offer guidance to refine guests’ techniques and other personalized tips.
On July 19, learn and enhance your mixology techniques at a hands-on cocktail class from 2-4 p.m. in Flat Iron Hotel’s underground speakeasy, Red Ribbon Society.

Cocktails 101 at Red Ribbon Society: Shake, Stir & Sip will explore essential bar tools, mise en place, cocktail-building fundamentals and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to create three signature cocktails with the guidance of Flat Iron’s expert bartenders.
Admission is $85, which will include use of the cocktail-making tools and ingredients and light bites. The event is for ages 21 and up. Purchase tickets on Eventbrite.

Fitz and the Wolfe, a new downtown music bar (formerly Isa’s Bistro), will partner with the Asheville Magic Company to present a pop-up magic show, Parlor in the Palm, in its underground Victorian Era-style speakeasy, The Palm Room.
