Mark Cuban Reveals Why He Turned Down Kamala Harris originally appeared on The Spun.
Well before the 2024 election ended up being a race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, there was speculation about Mark Cuban running for president.
Cuban, the former majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, revealed that he once commissioned a poll to see what his numbers would look like if he ran for president as an independent. He said, “If the numbers were to come back significantly higher, and I would have been able to take more away from either or both candidates, then I probably would have tried to convince my family.”
Leading up to Election Day on Nov. 5, Cuban voiced his support for Harris. There were plenty of times where he took a dig at Trump on social media.
Interestingly enough, Cuban could’ve been Harris’ running mate for the 2024 presidential election. At least that’s what he claims.
During an appearance on “The Bulwark” podcast, Cuban said Harris’ team offered him the chance to be second in command.

So why did Cuban turn down this offer? Apparently, he wouldn’t have thrived as the No. 2 option for America.
“I’m not very good as the No. 2 person. And so, if the last thing we need is me telling Kamala, you know, the president, that, no, that’s a dumb idea. Right. And I’m not real good at the shaking hands and kissing babies,” Cuban told Tim Miller.
Since Cuban rejected this offer, Harris turned her attention to Tim Walz.
“My personality is completely different than Tim’s,” Cuban said. “My experiences, my backgrounds are completely different. I think I’ve cut through the [expletive] more directly. I’m not a politician. And so it would have been different, but it would have been awful. She would have fired me within six days.”
Harris ultimately lost to Trump by a notable margin. We’re not sure if the outcome would’ve been different had Cuban accepted Harris’ offer.
