It’s Miss Universe Season!
The “national costume” part of the Miss Universe pageant has, and will always be, my favorite part of the Miss Universe pageant.
The United States has had quite the history of some interesting costumes over the years, like this one from 2022:
Yep, it moved.
In 2001, Miss USA’s national costume was a cowgirl.
In 2002, post-9/11, she was a firefighter.
In 2005, Miss USA’s national costume was some sort of prairie woman.
In 2007, Miss USA’s costume was Elvis.
In 2008, Miss USA went as a patriotic snowflake.
In 2009, Miss USA went as a NASCAR driver.
In 2013, Miss USA dressed as a transformer.
In 2017, Miss USA was a gladiator or a superhero.
In 2021, Miss USA was giving Oscar or Emmy statue.
And then, last year, Miss USA was a cornucopia of random USA-related things:
That’s the whole kitten caboodle right there!
Well, that brings us up to the 2024 pageant, and as usual, Miss USA gave us something kind of random.
Here it is:
And here’s another picture:
It appears she was a… human firework?
Not bad, not bad! But I still think we need to go back to the level of camp of that NASCAR outfit. Now, that was something.
