JACKSON, Tenn. — We are less than a week away from the ever-popular pageant that spotlights volunteerism and community service from women across the country.

Preliminary competitions kick off June 18 for the annual Miss Volunteer America pageant, which takes place in the Hub City.

51 state titleholders, but only one crown -and the title of Miss Volunteer America.

One of the largest providers of scholarships in the state, the competition kicks off this weekend. The public is invited to an opening ceremony that will be held Sunday, June 15 at The Ned, beginning at 3 in the afternoon.

Organizers say this is gives the public an opportunity to meet the contestants and watch them be introduced for the first time.

Also, voting is open now for the People’s Choice Award, giving family, fans and supporters the chance to secure a spot for their favorite contestant or state titleholder in the top 16 at semifinals.

“You can vote for your favorite title holder, and if that happens to be me, you can see me in the top 16; that is awesome,” said Lydia Fisher, 2025 Miss Michigan Volunteer. “But, if you just want to go root for your state you can do so by donating $1 per vote.”

Preliminary competitions take place June 18-20, with a winner to be crowned June 21st at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Each contestant embodies a S.E.R.V.E initiative–something they are most passionate about.

For Miss Michigan Volunteer, Lydia Fisher, hers is “Lydia’s light.”

Growing up with APD and ADHD, she says she has had to overcome challenges. However, it has only made her stronger.

“I believe every child has that light within them,” Fisher said. “They all have that special talent that they can lean into.”

Fisher is a graduate of the University of Memphis and has a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theater. She serves as a state ambassador for the Salvation Army and St. Jude through the Miss Volunteer Organization.
