Fans of Whitney Leavitt can rejoice — the reality TV star will appear in the upcoming The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5 before her official exit from the show.
“You’re going to want to sit down for this video. I am leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Take a minute. Take it in,” Leavitt, 32, said in a Tuesday, May 5, Instagram video. “I feel like I had to start my video that way. I’ve seen a lot of conversation on my announcement so I just wanted to come on here and share my thoughts.”
She continued, “Just to be very clear, I am finishing season 5. So yes, I will be in that season. But also yes, it will be my last. It’s honestly so crazy to me looking back on this journey because I had been trying to get into theater and film way before Secret Lives even came into my life.”
Leavitt explained that Mormon Wives “fell into my life organically and I said yes to it,” noting that the path might not have been what she “envisioned in my mind to get to where I am today.” Despite the fact that she didn’t have starring on a reality TV show on her vision board, she told her fans she “wouldn’t change a thing.”
“I have experienced so much with this group of women and in that process, I’ve also learned so much about myself,” she explained. “We have been through so much together, even more than what you’ve seen. We’ve had really big highs, really big lows and no matter what happens with our relationships, that is something that will always be a part of our life, will always be a part of my life and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
For Leavitt, the times that she has “walked away from MomTok” came from a “place of anger and frustration.” This time, however, Leavitt explained that her exit is “significantly different” because she’s “leaving with gratitude.”
“I feel content,” Leavitt said. “I feel like this is a chapter that’s closing in my life and honestly, I believe that’s how it was always meant to be. I’m so grateful for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It’s got me where I am today. It’s given me the opportunities that you all have seen but I’m ready. I’m ready for the next chapter and I cannot wait to share with you guys what’s next.”
“Leaving with gratitude ♥️✨,” Leavitt captioned the post. In the comments section, Leavitt’s friends shared their support.
“Proud of you friend.. 🫶🏼,” Leavitt’s season 34 Dancing With the Stars partner, Mark Ballas, wrote, while fellow DWTS contestant Elaine Hendrix added, “You can never go wrong with gratitude. You’re a sweetheart and a powerhouse Whitney. You’re doing it! Ilysm.”
Days prior, Leavitt made headlines when she revealed during her final performance of Chicago on Broadway that she would be “departing” the hit Hulu show.
One month earlier, Us Weekly confirmed that Mormon Wives resumed filming season 5 after halting production when Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen were involved in an alleged domestic incident. After an investigation, local authorities declined to bring charges against Paul.
