National Quesadilla Day is Wednesday, Sept. 25, and some restaurants offer deals on the simple yet satisfying dish.
The quesadilla has roots in Mexico and was first made with corn tortillas, dating back to the times of the Mayans and Aztecs, according to the Food Network.
Today, that cheesy goodness can be found between flour and corn tortillas.
How to make a quesadilla
A quesadilla can be whipped up in seconds. Whether you prefer yours with a handful of melted jack cheese or mozzarella or if you choose to add chicken, onion, black beans or salsa, just fold it and heat it up.
Tortillas can be toasted on a comal or griddle pan, but in some parts of Mexico, corn tortillas are fried in oil.
