EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures has acquired an original comedic pitch, inspired by the classic game MASH, from Emmy-, Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated comedian Nikki Glaser, who will star in, produce, and co-write the film.
The feature is billed as a Sliding Doors-style comedy, inspired by the future-predicting storytelling game from grade school. The MASH game starts off with a player literally writing out the letters ‘M-A-S-H’ to predict whether one will live in a mansion, apartment, shack, or house. Categories are then picked based on what you want in your future or story: a spouse, kids, car, pets, etc. Options are crossed off or circled under each category using a magic number, yielding your final resolution in life. In the Glaser project, a woman’s childhood MASH game magically becomes reality and she discovers that the perfect life isn’t the one she imagined.

Glaser is co-writing the comedy with Emmy-nominated scribe Sean O’Connor (The Late Late Show With James Corden). This is Glaser’s first feature script. O’Connor was a writer for the 82nd Golden Globes, on which Glaser was the first woman solo host.
Following the success of her Critics Choice-nominated HBO standup special Good Clean Filth in 2022, Glaser’s second HBO comedy special Someday You’ll Die premiered in May 2024 to a record-breaking audience. It set the record for both the best premiere night for an HBO comedy special in more than two years and for the No. 1 largest streaming audience for a comedy special in HBO Max/Max history.
She was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), a Grammy for Best Comedy Album, a Golden Globe for Best Performance in a Stand-Up Comedy on Television, a Critics Choice for Best Comedy Special and a WGA Award for Comedy/Variety Special, which she won. Glaser also wrote and performed “Someday You’ll Die,” the special’s theme song. Glaser can currently be seen on her Alive and Unwell tour across the U.S., Canada and Australia through October 2025 after wrapping her global The Good Girl tour in 2024.
O’Connor is currently working as a co-executive producer on the Netflix animated show Strip Law. He previously served as a co-EP on Solar Opposites and Star Trek: Lower Decks and Close Enough on HBO Max, head writer and executive producer of Lights Out with David Spade, head writer and co-EP of A Little Late With Lilly Singh. He has also written for The Late Late Show with James Corden, Fox’s What Just Happened and Netflix’s Hilarity For Charity.
Glaser is represented by UTA, Brillstein, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. O’Connor is represented by CAA, Mosaic and Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan.
